Officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mall Circle at the St. Charles Town Centre at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, where there was a reported robbery involving two teens who cornered their victim before stealing from him.

It is alleged that the minor victim reported to sheriff’s office deputies that he was approached in a hallway near the food court by the two suspects, who displayed the weapon and stole his jacket and shoes, officials said.

During a subsequent canvas of the area, Diane Richardson of the Charles County Sheriff’s Media Relations Office said that deputies located the suspects in the parking lot of a nearby business, with one of the two in possession of the replica weapon.

The teens - a 15-year-old male and 17-year-old female whose names have not been released - were apprehended without incident and charged with armed robbery.

After they were charged on a juvenile offense report and in accordance with Maryland law, the two were released to their parents.

The investigation is ongoing.
